The Hadaka Matsuri is a festival in which you undress completely apart from a small loincloth (like sumos) to rid yourself of impur clothes as well as purify the soul and the body.
Then they start a physical joust to determine who will grab the sacred staff that should provide luck and happiness for the whole year.
The last festival gathered 9000 men in the Okayama temple.
This more than 5 centuries old tradition making you wade about in an almost freezing water doesn't seem to put them off.
To what lenghts would we go to grope naked men...
